Alex’s TikTok and LinkedIn videos are viewed by thousands in the legal space, often sparking fascinating discussions from hundreds of people in the comments.
Alex first came to my attention a couple of months ago when he wrote an article called Profitable Misery, which made the rounds among the PERSUIT team.
Here’s are two short excerpts from Alex, talking about his early experiences in a Big Law firm:
“The biggest surprise to me as a young associate was how much time I spent doing tedious, annoying tasks, like reviewing documents, checking for typos, or building chronologies. I’ll call it sh*twork."
“The more sh*twork you generate, the more money the firm makes. That’s how you end up in a situation where a bunch of junior associates run around building charts, reviewing documents, or my personal favorite—checking documents for typos and formatting issues. None of these things have a real impact on the case.”
Sh*twork is the perfect term for so many of the things that happen in a legal, and not just in firms.
We reached out to Alex to see if he’d be willing to join us on the podcast, and he was gracious enough to agree.
