Hi there,
Every year law firms come to their corporate legal departments and say:
“Hey, it was great working with you last year. Just want you to know that we’re raising our rates by [pick a box...6️⃣%...8️⃣%...🔟%+...]"
Talk about a sting.🤬
Even if you have only a dozen firms — or like some of our clients, 100+ firms 😳 — when you multiply that effort across multiple practice areas, locations, and timekeepers, the fact is you simply don’t have the time or resources to negotiate with them all.
So many in-house teams just blindly accept those increases; the cost of doing business, as they say. 🤷♂️
As a former managing partner, I know all too well that it’s no less glamorous for firms (although maybe a bit easier). It was certainly the easiest and go-to solution for increasing profitability.
"Let’s increase our rates!!"
But from tracking multiple email threads per client and finding that engagement letter from years ago — the inefficiencies are truly mind-numbing.
While helping corporate legal teams move to value-based pricing is THE thing that we do at PERSUIT, we are also a team full of pragmatists (could it have something to do with our talent stack of former lawyers??? 🤔 ).
We know that (for now) the billable hour still — and to some degree will likely always — play an important role in the relationship with outside counsel.
And it continues to cause our clients significant pain.
So we asked ourselves:
“What can we do to help!!!?”
This week, we are incredibly excited to announce the launch of Rate Review Pro — a cradle-to-grave solution for in-house teams to manage the pain of the rate negotiations process.
No more spreadsheets. 📉
No more back-and-forth emails. 📨
No more email folders where you hid last year’s law firm rates (or somebody else hid last year’s law firm rates 🫣 ).
✅ Capture…
✅ Compare…
✅ Negotiate…
….law firm rates all in one place.
What else could you possibly ask for!?
(OK, I know, maybe next time I’ll take a shave and don a collar before I guest in our product release hype video 🤷♂️. )
We know you’re going to love it.
All the details are here.
Give us your feedback. We’d love to hear it.
Cheers,
Jim
