Hi there,

 

Every year law firms come to their corporate legal departments and say:

 

“Hey, it was great working with you last year. Just want you to know that we’re raising our rates by [pick a box...6️⃣%...8️⃣%...🔟%+...]"

 

Talk about a sting.🤬

 

Even if you have only a dozen firms — or like some of our clients, 100+ firms 😳 — when you multiply that effort across multiple practice areas, locations, and timekeepers, the fact is you simply don’t have the time or resources to negotiate with them all. 

 

So many in-house teams just blindly accept those increases; the cost of doing business, as they say.  🤷‍♂️  

 

As a former managing partner, I know all too well that it’s no less glamorous for firms (although maybe a bit easier). It was certainly the easiest and go-to solution for increasing profitability. 

 

"Let’s increase our rates!!"

 

But from tracking multiple email threads per client and finding that engagement letter from years ago — the inefficiencies are truly mind-numbing. 

 

While helping corporate legal teams move to value-based pricing is THE thing that we do at PERSUIT, we are also a team full of pragmatists (could it have something to do with our talent stack of former lawyers??? 🤔 ).
