Hi there,
I’ve had a lot of fun hosting PERSUIT’s Innovative Legal Leaders podcast over the past year.
I get to discuss some incredibly profound topics — and not just legal ones — with some of the most influential and forward-thinking legal leaders of our time.
Although it’s hard to name only a few, some of the more recent ones have included Rishi Varma (Hewlett Packard Enterprise), Bjarne Tellmann (Haleon), and Lisa Mather (Mars Wrigley).
What stands out among all of these conversations are the topics that come up again and again as the top priorities of modern GCs and senior legal leaders.
Internally, we’ve started calling these issues the “GC Imperatives.”
They include things like:
✅ Managing risk
✅ Controlling costs
✅ Taking care of your people
✅ Driving efficiency
✅ DEI: Diversity, equity, and inclusion
✅ ESG: Environmental, social, and governance
I know that the world of a GC can be a lonely one — probably a lot like being a startup founder (although that’s a story for another day).
For that reason, it’s important to me that our podcast gives GCs, CLOs, and senior legal leaders a place where they feel seen, heard, and understood — and where they can give back by sharing what they’ve learned across their career.
I’d love to hear your take — especially from those of you in senior legal leadership positions.
❓ Are these the issues keeping you up at night?
❓ Are some of these issues more important than others?
❓ What are we missing from this list?
